My photos have won me prizes and some of them have been published on BBC. By profession, presently I am a software engineer. I believe a photo or a painting should be able to take the watcher to the place or situation where it was taken.
Description: This picture has been taken on the ghats of Varanasi during my visit there last week. Being the month of Karthik from the hindu calendar, lot of prilgrims have thronged to take a dip in the holy Ganges river. The boy is arranging the flowers and diyas (holy flame offering with a wick projected from a ball of ghee) ready to sell the which earns him his daily bread. His body language and face exhibits his urgency and curiosity to let his basketful of items go at the earleist. This has prompted me to take his picture.
Taken at Dashaswamedha Ghat on Ganges, Varanasi, India
